Ricmedia Guitar was founded in 2005 in the tourist town of Daylesford, Victoria, Australia.
The entire website is designed and maintained by myself, Richie, with new lessons and other content published regularly, so be sure to subscribe to my newsletter or RSS feed to be instantly notified when new lessons are published.
I started playing guitar aged 13 with initial influences of AC/DC, Jimmi Hendrix, Eagles, John Lee Hooker, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Later I started getting into Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Van Halen styles and at the age 18, I decided to travel to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute, specifically G.I.T. I graduated 12 months later in 1992 after an amazing year exploring music, meeting some awesome people and visiting some very cool places.
After returning home I started up a guitar teaching practice with a regular 55 students and some very dedicated players amongst them too. In 2001 I started a musical accessories company which I ran with family for the next 5 years. The business is still running today with another owner.
In 2006 I studied at TAFE Multimedia Development & Design which gave me the skills to create the Ricmedia Guitar website taking 12 months to design and develop. In 2013 I completely re-vamped the website to run on WordPress to make my life easier so I can concentrate on providing the best content in the best way I can, without spending too much time on the back-end.
